Home News & Events Benton House School – Communicate and Regulate

During our staff training this week, I lead a discussion on how we continue to support pupils with their emotional literacy and regulation skills. Staff shared lots of successful strategies they are already using in class, and we explored further ways we can strengthen outcomes for our children in this important area.
As part of the session, I introduced some fantastic lesson ideas and resources from the North Tyneside Language and Communication Team. After half term, each class will begin taking part in a weekly Communicate and Regulate lesson. These sessions are designed to help children develop their communication with peers, recognise their emotional triggers, and build a toolkit of strategies they can use to regulate themselves more confidently.
Once these sessions are underway, we’ll be very happy to share ideas from your child’s personal “emotional toolkit” so that you can continue to support them at home too.
